The Quincy cross country team ended its 2022 season by participating in the district championship meet in Wenatchee last week.

With the top seven runners in each varsity race moving to state, the Jacks suited up a handful of athletes to participate in the race, which included a dominant Cascade squad in both the girls’ and the boys’ competitions.

Among the boys, Quincy’s Levi Kukes finished in 10th place with 18:35.4 minutes. Fellow junior Yanik Bautista finished in 19th place with 19:12.3 minutes. Senior Edgar Guzman finished in 21st place with 19:18.1 minutes. Alexis Birrueta finished in 28th place with 20:32.9 minutes. Freshman Sergio Esparza finished a spot behind Birrueta with 20:34 minutes. Fellow frosh Alejandro Birrueta finished in 30th place with 20:39.8 minutes. Adiel Sandoval, another senior, finished in 33rd place with 21:09.5 minutes.

In team scores, Cascade took first place with 20 points, followed by Cashmere with 56, Chelan with 79, Quincy with 107 and Omak with 111.

Among girls, Marissa Tafolla finished her senior season with a 15th-place finish, and a mark of 25:58 minutes. Fellow upperclassman Luz Aragon finished a spot behind her with 26:12.7 minutes. Senior Marisol Uribe finished in 19th place with 27:12.10 minutes, and sophomore Brenda Uribe finished in 21st place with 27:24.0 minutes. Jasmine Vasquez finished in 26th place with 33:44.4 minutes.

In team scores, Cascade took first place with 15 points, followed by Omak with 62, Cashmere with 79 and Quincy with 80.
