Girls golf team beats Omak

Quincy High School golfer Karla Nunez in action earlier this season for the Lady Jacks.

The Quincy Lady Jacks golf team scored a big league win against the Omak Pioneers last week, 410 to 425.

The Lady Jacks’ Emily Wurl scored an 88, followed by Julisa Trevino and Daisy Dominguez, who scored a 105 each and Nydia Pereira who scored a 110. Karla Nunez scored a 118 and Johanna Gonzalez scored a 133.

For Omak, the Pioneers’ Halle Richter scored a 95, Kinsey Christoph scored a 100, Coley Christoph scored a 114 and Callie Christoph scored a 115. Delaney McNiel scored a 119 and Lydia Vance scored a 132.

Next up for the girls was a practice round on the 10th of May at home, followed by their turn hosting the CTL/District 6 golf championships on May 17.

The top six girls at districts will qualify for state, according to the Quincy webpage on ctlathletics.com

State will take place at Indian Canyon Golf Course in Spokane on May 24-25.

The boys had a harder time against Omak, losing 353-434.

The Jacks’ Max Mejia scored a 92, followed by Mitchell Main with a 105, Jaxon Ferguson with a 108 and Aaron Royer with a 129. Omak’s Blake Sam scored a 78, followed by Brady Tonasket with an 80, Jovan Mercado with a 95 and Cannon Christoph with a 99. Josaya Sloan’s score did not appear on the scoresheet as he did not play all 18 holes.

Next up for the boys is the CTL/District match on May 17. The top five boys advance to state, at the same venue as the girls.
