Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the high school spring sports season has been postponed. The Post-Register would like to recognize the following senior athletes on the QHS track and field team who will not get to play their final season. Comments submitted by Girls Head Coach Whitney Gregg.

Jacqueline Dearie

Team Experience: 4 years

Jacque is an amazingly diverse athlete! She has made consistent growth in triple jump and javelin over her high school career. Her determination for success is evident, and she is naturally inspirational and encouraging to others.

Shelby Riker

Team Experience: 1 year

Shelby is a good-natured athlete who cares about her teammates and is willing to try new things. She was working on distance races as well as throwing events this season.

Taylor Thomsen

Team Experience: 4 years

Taylor Thomsen is the heart of the throwers squad! She inspires and encourages others with her tremendous knowledge about throwing technique and her genuine and kind nature. Her distances are extremely competitive and although she is already performing at a high level, she still has incredible room for growth, which is exciting.

Taggart Hodges

Team Experience: 1 year

Taggart is respectful, kind, hardworking and dedicated. He was working on multiple jumping events along with throwing the javelin for his premiere high school track season.

Isaiah Ayala

Team Experience: 4 years

Isaiah is very competitive! He works hard so that no one will get an advantage on him. He is a naturally gifted athlete that had a lot of potential.

Israel Cavazos

Team Experience: 4 years

Izzy is a hard worker. He attacks every workout and drill with precision and focus to get everything he can out of the workouts. He is a naturally gifted athlete, and a gifted leader. Izzy leads by example, doing what’s right all the time.
