The start date for fall prep sports has been pushed back to early September, according to a press release from the Washington Interscholastic Activities Association.

The decision was made during the July 7 WIAA executive board meeting and aims to help relieve the pressure of reopening schools in the fall. The new start dates are Sept. 5 for football and Sept. 7 for all other sports. These start dates allow for contests to begin as early as Sept. 18, according to the press release.

The executive board is scheduled to review other options for fall sports on July 21. If further delays are deemed necessary, an announcement will be made the following day. The WIAA suggests school not reschedule any games until after a decision is made on how the delays will impact the fall season.
